If this is your first time using mineral
makeup, follow these simple instructions. Take your time when working with
minerals. It takes a little time but
soon you will develop an application method that works best for you.
Experiment and have fun!
Cleanse &
Moisturize
Begin with clean skin. Use a mild facial
cleanser and a good moisturizer. Apply a
small amount of your favorite moisturizer (Emu Oil or our Foundation Primer) to
slightly damp skin and allow a few minutes for the product to sink in. Use the cleanser and moisturizer of your
choice.
It is important to remember that everyone
needs moisturizer, even those with oily skin.
There are good moisturizers for all skin types (dry, oily, combination).
Your skin is now prepped and ready for BG
Minerals!
Correct & Conceal
If you don't have anything to conceal or
correct - skip this step!
Using our concealer brush, apply concealer
generously and firmly to the areas you wish to conceal. A cream concealer can easily be made by
adding a drop of moisturizer to the powder, then blend the products together
into a smooth creamy consistency, and apply.
Apply in light layers. You can apply concealer to specific areas or
if needed, you can apply concealer all over your face.
You do not need to buff in your concealer or
corrector. It will blend in once you
apply your foundation.
Apply your Foundation
Foundation gives you a flawless base for your
face, giving your skin a healthy uniform color, texture and appearance. Before applying foundation, make sure your
moisturizer is completely settled in and your skin is dry.
For proper application, use a kabuki brush or large face brush and
follow these simple steps...
~ Gently shake a small amount of foundation
onto the lid (or container of your choice).
SWIRL your kabuki brush in the mineral foundation. TAP the brush handle
on the edge of the lid to remove excess foundation. BUFF your foundation by
applying one layer at a time until you achieve your desired coverage.
Less is more!
No matter how much coverage you need, never pile on your foundation - it
won't look natural. It is always best to
apply light layers (using a small amount each time) to build your
coverage.
Our Mineral Foundation also blends
beautifully with your moisturizer for a creamy tinted moisturizer. This application is best for people that
don’t need a lot of coverage and just want a hint of color. Simply tap a very small amount into your
hand. Add a drop of moisturizer and
blend until smooth. Apply to your face
using your fingertips or a cosmetic sponge.
Bronzer & Blush
Bronzer can be applied before or after blush.
Start by dusting a little bronzer over your
face just where the sun would naturally hit your face (forehead, chin, cheeks,
and nose).
Next, dip your brush into your blush
powder. Tap the end of the brush handle
to drop powder into brush head. Apply to
the cheekbones. Start at the apples of
your cheeks or slightly above and sweep the brush back into your hairline. Use only use a small amount of blush powder
and blend well.
Unlike regular powder makeup, BG Mineral
blushes and bronzers are highly pigmented - it takes just a tiny amount. To get the amount you need, turn your jar
upside down and use what is left on the lid - it is enough to do the job quite
well!
Accentuate Your Eyes
Dip the tip of your brush or
applicator into the powder. Tap brush
over the side of jar so the excess powder falls back into the jar. Brush firmly on lids, crease, or brow,
blending well for a natural look.
If you like a natural look for daytime wear,
use natural shades of eye shadow. You
can use 3 colors - one on your lids, one on your crease and then one as a highlighter
under your brow.
For night time wear or special occasions, you
can line your eyes and sometimes use more intense colors or apply your eye
colors wet to create a more dramatic effect.
BG Minerals eye colors are so versatile you
can create any look you want! With just
one sweep, even the most intense looking colors look very natural! To create more intense or dramatic looks,
just apply your eye colors in layers or apply them wet!
Any of the darker shades can be used as
eyeliner. Eyeliner can be applied dry or
wet.
For DRY APPLICATION, dip the tip of your
eyeliner brush or applicator into the powder.
We suggest using our smudger brush.
Tap brush over the side of jar so the excess powder falls back into the
jar. Brush firmly on lid getting as close to the lash line as possible.
For WET APPLICATION, mix a drop of eyeliner/shadow
sealant to the powder either on the back of your hand or in jar lid and follow
above instructions.
Apply Finishing Powder
To complete your application, always dust on
finishing powder because it will set your makeup and give you a polished look!
Finishing powders work in so many ways,
everyone should use it! It sets your
makeup, reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines and gives you an all
over polished look. On top of that,
finishing veils and powders help control oil and shine without drying out your
skin! Each Finishing Powder work great
for all types (dry, combination, oily).
Color Your Lips
Eye shadows and blush powders (except where
stated) can be mixed with clear lip gloss to make your own custom lip color.
Dip a lip brush into your clear lip gloss and
then into your desired color. Apply the
mix to your lips and blend well.
Kissed Lip Gloss can also be worn over your
favorite lipstick for added depth, shine and texture.
Nail Polish
Using a good quality clear nail polish, dip
the brush into the desired color and polish onto your nails. You can also mix the powders into color nail
polish to create fantastic custom colors!
We hope this guide makes applying your mineral makeup much less challenging
and a lot more fun! The main thing to
remember is that you should not be intimidated by your mineral makeup. Play around, have fun and find the technique
that works best for you!
